We are starting a new math unit, Data Management and Probability.
In this unit, your child will be learning about making graphs and probability –how likely it is that an event will happen.
The Learning Goals for this unit are:
-Compare, sort, and organize objects into real-life graphs
-Ask questions, collect, and record gathered information on graphs.
-Read graphs and ask questions about information on the graphs.
-Decide whether an event will happen always, sometimes, or never.
You can help your child reach these goals by:
-Sorting small objects of two colours (blue and green buttons). What do we have more of, the blue or green? Use a chart to help you "see" it.
-Have your child ask family members to name their favourite vegetables and create a graph (ie. how many people like carrots more than celery?)
